Rico is Still Alive in Killzone 3, Bummer
Sony's flagship first person shooter is back for another round on the PS3, and this time it makes use of all the bells and whistles the console has to offer. Amazing visuals, fantastic sound, PlayStation Move support, and 3D TV ready out of the box. Impressive, indeed! But best of all, we didn't have to wait years on end to hold it in hand. Killzone 3 comes just 2 years later, and I'm beginning to think that a little more time might not have been a bad thing.
X’07 Hands-on
While the big, annual X’0 event that takes place in Europe about this time every year was canceled, the smaller, more intimate Toronto event still happened, and man was it ever great! I know it seems like every year is the biggest year for gaming, but this year it really is. Looking back on last […]
Being an Xbox 360 Gamer is Tough!
You know things are good when the only thing you can really complain about is the fact that there are too many awesome new games and you can't find time to play them all. Which is exactly how things are at the moment. It's been about a week and a half since I touched Splinter Cell Double Agent. I was planning to get in some quality time with the multiplayer end of the game, but Need for Speed Carbon stole my attention for a while. Just as I finished the career in Carbon, Tony Hawk's Project 8 comes out with less than a 24 hour window until the almighty Gears of War is among us. Now that the gears are turning, everything else stops.
Post E3 2005 Thoughts
It’s been just over a week since E3 wrapped up. I’ve watched dozens of trailers, read tons of articles and seen a ridiculous amount of stunning screenshots. I tell ya – this is an exciting time for gamers! GameSpot‘s coverage of the event was impeccable this year. I signed up for a GameSpot Complete membership […]
Mercenaries
It came out of nowhere, blew me away, then left me blowing shit up for hours-upon-hours. It might look like a Grand Theft Auto knock-off at first glance. But put a few hours into it and you’ll see that it varies quite a bit from the usual GTA gameplay. It’s much more linear and mission […]
Returning to the Pacific in Battlefield 1943
It's been nearly 7 years since the release of Battlefield 1942, but I often find myself looking back on the countless hours I spent playing that game with fond memories. It was not only a blast to play, but also quite influential in that it paved the way for many online conquest style games to follow. Needless to say, I was just a little excited when I caught wind of Battlefield 1943 - a pseudo remake of this classic game. Now it's here, in our hands, and it's bloody brilliant!
I Thoroughly Enjoyed Transformers: War for Cybertron
Having grown up in the '80s, I was more than just a little excited to see the original Transformers brought back to life. Especially in the form of a third-person action game, built on top of Epic's Unreal Engine, and set before any other known events in the Transformers universe. Tack on a complete 3-player co-op campaign and a surprisingly deep competitive online component, and you have what sounds like a perfect recipe. While it may not be perfect, it's pretty damn good, and definitely satisfied my thirst for some retro Transformers action.
Resistance 2… meh.
While my dead Xbox 360 sits in my entertainment unit, and with the release date for Gears of War 2 drawing closer, I had come to accept the possibility of missing the boat on November 7. Looking for an upside to this dismal situation, I turned to PlayStation 3’s hallmark shooter, Resistance 2. With a […]
The Ones that Slipped Through the Cracks
With having a new baby and recently going back to freelance work, my schedule/routine has been thrown off quite a bit. It’s pretty tough to plan… anything, actually. Let alone, setting aside some dedicated time for gaming. I’ve basically just been parking my ass on the couch whenever it’s free and the baby’s either sleeping […]
Nintendo Wii is a Gimmicky Toy for the Whole Family… Almost
We’re nearing the end of our third week with the Nintendo Wii and it’s seen a fair bit of use. There have been stretches of 3 or 4 days in a row that it hasn’t been touched, though. I can’t say I’ve gone longer than 24 hours without turning on my Xbox 360 in the […]
Gears of War
I really can't say enough good things about Gears of War. It's outstanding on every level. If you have been waiting for a good reason to pick up an Xbox 360, it's here!
Massive Announcements at X’06
I was busy working away today while X'06 was getting underway in Barcelona so I didn't tune in to any of the live video feeds and I haven't had my feed reader open all day. Just as I was wrapping up before dinner a press release dropped in my inbox titled "Xbox 360 Ushers in Exclusive New Worlds of Entertainment for Most-Anticipated Franchises Ever at X06". Press releases are always over-hyped, so I opened it up with a snarky grin on my face as I rolled my eyes. That grin was slapped off my face repeatedly as I was hit with headline after headline of absolutely massive news!
