God of War 2 4.5

What More Can I Say About God of War 2?

It’s no secret that the God of War series have been kicking our asses since 2005. But since I never owned a PS2, I pretty much missed the boat entirely. Previous to this past week, I had only spent a few hours with the original God of War when I borrowed a PS2 from a colleague - I loved every second of it. It should go without saying that one of my first purchases since owning a PS3 was God of War 2. I also picked up Resistance: Fall of Man, but Kratos has completely…

Xbox 360: Almost Ready to Jump Ship

It hasn’t been a full two weeks since my Xbox 360 kicked it, but now I find myself backed in a corner, just about ready to jump ship entirely. Obviously, it sucks that it broke, but that was only the tip of the iceberg as I quickly discovered. Things really didn’t look all that bad at first. After all, I have a second Xbox 360 that I use for capturing screenshots for Dashboard Themes. I figured the worst case scenario would be my console being unrepairable and me having to replace it at full cost.…

DiRT 4.5

Let’s Get DiRT-y

It seems that every few months a lower profile game comes along that knocks everyone back in their seat. DiRT is definitely one of those games. A combination of minimal promotion and a poorly timed release date (just 3 weeks after Forza 2) were no doubt factors that made DiRT slip past most people’s radars. But this is where Xbox Live truly shines. A demo featuring 3 event types and 3 car classes hit the Marketplace around the time Forza 2 hit shelves and it really was undeniably good. Luckily for us, it proved to be a…

No E3 ‘07 Reflections From Me

Every year since I started this blog, I’ve followed up E3 with my own reflections on the major platforms and up-coming games. Last year I wrote at length on the hardware and software Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony’s brought to the event. But, I’ve decided to skip this year. I really didn’t see a whole lot that impressed me. I feel re-assured that the Xbox 360 is the platform with the most promise, both now and in future, but Nintendo and Sony really failed to impress me yet again. So much so, that I couldn’t even bring…

Death of an Xbox 360 Fanboy?

Well, it finally happened. Instead of seeing a green quarter light up when I turn on my Xbox 360, I get a red one. Just one, which apparently is worse than the infamous 3 red lights of death. It happened last night just after Deanna got home from work. I was all excited about the E3 trailers that hit the Marketplace and was dying to show her the Xbox Live Arcade montage as it featured sequels to a couple games she was really into. As the video was nearing the end, a band of pixellated noise…

The Darkness 4

And Along Came “The Darkness”

First person shooters are a dime a dozen. Especially in North America - this genre of gaming is completely flooded and for the most part, each new game brings a slight twist but nothing more. But every once in a while a game comes along and changes all of that. While The Darkness is not entirely unique by any means, it manages to do just enough to really stand out in the crowd. At the same time, the familiarity that I feel while playing this game gives me a warm and tingly feeling deep down.

Neglect

One of the down sides of playing where you work, is when it comes time to play, you hardly feel like it having just worked 8 hours. What I’m referring to of course, is myself being a web designer and having my own personal online projects on the side. My blog also falls into this category as anything put into it is done in my “spare” time. It’s unfortunate that just about anything else I’ve touched has basically sat stagnant since launch with the exception of a few minor updates. In every case, there has…
