A few weeks ago, I finally got around to doing something I’ve been meaning to get to for ages. I created a bare bones stylesheet that I can use as a starting point for new projects. I established a set of common selectors months ago and found myself spending (or rather, wasting) time at the beginning of the CSS phase of every project re-writing virtually the same CSS. Given the excitement that filled me when I got my hands on the beta a few days early, this post should come as no surprise. But let me first preface it by stating that while I did enjoy the first 2 games in the Halo franchise, I didn’t spend a lot of time playing online. To this day, most of my gaming time is spent playing solo or co-op through campaigns as opposed to the shit-talking frag-fest that is multiplayer gaming. I’ve seen a ton of chatter over the past few months about Twitter and the majority of it is of the WTF variety. Believe me, I was there too! For the longest time, I really didn’t see the point of getting updates as people go through their daily routines. But after much sitting a-top the fence, I jumped off and am now 484 updates strong. As much as it actually is neat following the lives of those that you may or may not know outside of the interslice, it has other advantages that just sort of… happen.

Shortly after I decided to spend my Friday night getting myself ahead on some of the projects I’ve got on the go, an email landed in my inbox that changed everything. I saw a Growl notification out of the corner of my eye that read, “Subject: Halo 3 Beta - advance code & assets” and I swear my heart sank as my eyes popped out of my skull. Early this evening I spent about half an hour watching some dudes at GameSpot play the multiplayer beta live. Then 2 of my friends appeared on Xbox Live also…

For the past couple years I’ve been flying solo pretty much exclusively. It’s only been recently that I’ve been collaborating with other designers and developers during my freelance journeys and time at Graphics.net.
