Nintendo Wii is a Gimmicky Toy for the Whole Family… Almost

I apologize if you’re sick of hearing me talk about the Wii. I’m almost positive this will be the last time for a while.

We’re nearing the end of our third week with the Nintendo Wii and it’s seen a fair bit of use. There have been stretches of 3 or 4 days in a row that it hasn’t been touched, though. I can’t say I’ve gone longer than 24 hours without turning on my Xbox 360 in the year that I’ve had it. So that says something right there. If you haven’t caught on by now,…

Wii Had Our First Accident

On the eve of my wife’s 28th birthday, we decided to get a little silly. She’s been joking about turning 28 and being all serious from then on. We didn’t have much planned for tonight - caught up on some TV that we hadn’t gotten to yet this week. This week’s episode of Lost was great, BTW. About time, too! And The Black Donnellys is looking like it’s going to be my new favourite show. But anyway, a pretty quiet, relaxing evening spent on the couch with a drink in hand. Once Lost was over, I picked…

Hey Nintendo, Where are the Wii Accessories?

The Wii’s been getting a fair amount of use since I picked it up nearly 2 weeks ago. Admittedly, a bit less recently since GRAW 2 has pretty much completely stolen the thunder. None the less, we’ve just about worn down the batteries in one of the Wiimotes. On my lunch break the other day I took a trip down to the local Best Buy to grab a couple rechargeable battery packs. To my surprise, aside from the Wifi USB adapter and the different controllers and cables, Nintendo has no accessories available. However, they were…

Wicked Fast App Switching in OS X with Logitech’s MX Revolution

Being a Windows user for so many years, one of the things about OS X that always bothered me was all the floating windows all over the desktop. For the most part in Windows, you run applications “maximized” and therefore, you hardly ever see the desktop. In OS X, you can always see the desktop. Small detail, big hurdle. Being a web designer, I have a few select apps I run all day long that I need quick access to. At some points, I find myself switching between the lot of them and bouncing back and…

I Finally Got a Damn Wii

Yup, I finally did it! I got myself (primarily my family, actually) a Nintendo Wii. I’ve been on the fence about it since launch and had decided I’d wait until Metroid Prime 3 and/or Super Mario Galaxy were released. Then I guess weeks on end of hearing people raving about it and seeing just about everyone around me (online, anyway) getting one finally got to me and I just caved. Once I decided I wanted to get one, I had to figure out how. Because of course, they’re still impossible to get in stores. In…

No Longer My Own Boss

This is probably going to come as a surprise to many - tomorrow (Friday, March 2, 2007) is my last day as a freelance designer. Come Monday morning, I’ll be falling into the ranks of a fresh start-up where I’ll assume the role of “lead designer”. Crazy, right? May-be! But let me explain why I would do such a thing.
