Penny Arcade’s 2nd annual ‘Child’s Play’
Last year, an article was written dubbing all gamers as ‘ticking time bombs’ and went on to slight everyone who’s ever touched a gamepad. The boys at Penny Arcade didn’t take lightly to the attack and decided to start a charity organization to prove that ‘gamers are good people, too.‘ And thus, Child’s Play was born.
In only a few short weeks, the organization raised over $250,000 (US – that’s like a million to us Canucks!) worth of cash and toys that they donated to the Seattle Children’s Hospital, just in time for Christmas. Not only did they receive tons of positive press and encouragement from within and outside of the gaming community – they also received a published apology from the original author of the sucky article (which I can’t seem to find right now).
