Star Wars Battlefront 2: Review

I had planned to review F.E.A.R. and Call of Duty 2 before Battlefront 2, but I've had so much fun playing it, I just couldn't hold out. Battlefront 2 is the ultimate Star Wars game. If you enjoyed the first one, chances are you'll love the sequel. For those that aren't familiar with the series - Star Was Battlefront is exactly what it's name implies. You are one amongst massive battles that you've seen in the Star Wars movies. You can play as any of the four factions (Rebels, Empire, Republic and CIS), re-enacting the epic battles on various planets and for the first time, in space. All the vehicles and weapons are also present, including some that only made brief appearances in the movies.

King Kong Demo: Review

After a weekend away from home, I was looking forward to some serious gaming tonight. I've got a ton of new games recently, but I didn't end up playing any of them. The first demo for Peter Jackson's King Kong was released on Friday while I was out of town. After seeing the screenshots and short video clips from E3 and shortly after, I wasn't overly stoked on it. Not to mention that movie games are supposed to suck. After all, the only game based on a movie franchise I've really enjoyed (besides a few of the Star Wars games) was The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. Great game - shit ass movie.

Heroes Of The Pacific Demo: Review

No, I'm not sick of World War II games - to be honest, I don't think I ever could be. As long as they keep varying the game type, I'm good. I think we can all agree the WWII FPS market is a little flooded, but there aren't many (any?) really good aerial combat games. I was totally looking forward to Secret Weapons Over Normandy, especially since Michael Giacchino was announced as being the composer months before it's release. I should have known when the soundtrack was getting more hype than the game. The flying just wasn't that good. I loved the flying engine in Battlefield 1942, and everything else just doesn't seem to cut it. Until now!

Battlefield 2 Demo: Review

I've been into the Battlefield series since the first installment, Battlefield 1942. Aside from the original Half-Life, BF 1942 was probably the game I've spent most hours playing. I was totally hooked on it. BF Vietnam, not as much. To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to BF 2 in the least. BF Vietnam never ran all that great on my system and was pretty buggy. I figured BF 2 would be a write-off. But so far, so good! The demo runs great! Mind you, I have all my settings on medium and low with the resolution at 1024x768, but it looks surprisingly good and plays perfect.
