You Can Always Tell…

when a blogger is working on a new site. Posting becomes nearly non-existent and I must apologize for that. Whenever I saw someone neglecting their site because they're working on a new design I said to myself that I would never do that. Well it seems I'm no better, but I now understand why this happens. The fact of the matter is - launching a new design for a blog is a lot of work. Especially if you have a fairly customized installation and are running a lot of plugins, which I am. It takes a lot of planning and there are several areas which require tons of attention to detail.

So, I’m Rebooting May 1

As I mentioned last time I wrote on this subject, I've been debating whether or not to take part in the May 1 CSS Reboot. Last night while waiting for something to upload, I cracked open my most recent PSD of the homepage layout, dated October 16, 2005. Roughly two-and-a-half hours later, I had made a fair bit of progress and was feeling good about where it seems to be going. I immediately made my way over to the CSS Reboot site and signed up. You see, if I don't have a deadline, I don't get shit done. And hey, the November 1 CSS Reboot helped me roll this bad boy out, so let's see how May 1 does for my personal domain.

GameCom X30 Headset for Xbox 360: Review

The day I picked up my Xbox 360, I spent a fair bit of time checking out all the accessories and deciding which ones to get. I was bummed to discover the only headset available was the standard Microsoft one that's big, ugly and cheap looking. I never had the original Xbox Live headset as I got my Xbox just before Halo 2 was released and some friends of mine at an Xbox PR company hooked me up with the limited edition Halo 2 headset. That little thing was great! It was small, sleek and comfortable. Lucky for us, the company behind the Halo 2 headset has done it again - this time for the Xbox 360.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter: Review

G.R.A.W. was the system seller for me. I've been considering an Xbox 360 since it's release and with the PC version being pushed back a couple months and me hating on PC gaming these days, I just had to pick one up. It is, without a doubt, one of the best games I've played. Even though I beat it over a week ago, I've still been playing it pretty steady. I highly recommend you check this game out if you're a 360 owner - and if not, it might be time to seriously consider making that investment.

Xbox 360 Through an LCD: Cable Comparison

Over the past couple months, I've had a number of people ask how my 21" widescreen LCD performs with the Xbox 360. To be honest, I haven't really been using my monitor for gaming much since one my primary reasons for getting a 360 was to get myself away from this chair once in a while. I'm currently using my 27" Sony Trinitron television with the S-Video cable. It's the best resolution I can get on my standard definition television and it'll hold me over until I can drop the cash for an HDTV. Since I've already got 2 cables in my position, I went out and picked up the VGA cable for the 360 to do a little comparison. The results blew me away!

GRAW Pissed Me Off

First off, GRAW is quite possibly the dumbest acronym ever. How about we just call it GR3? Sounds good... As I mentioned in my last post, I picked up an Xbox 360 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (yes, the full name is pretty dumb too) last weekend. I've been playing it quite a bit and have almost completed the single player campaign. I think I just wrapped up the eighth or ninth mission of eleven. Really enjoying the game, until this last mission. Let me quote the back of the GR3 box...

Busted

Sunday morning I was presented with a blank screen after firing up my PC. Switched over to the Mac and everything's a-ok. Son-of-a! Time for a new video card. I jumped on the local shop websites to see what was in stock. What do you know... nothing! Suddenly my plans to do absolutely nothing turned into a road trip to pick up a new video card. Luckily, I was able to score the new AGP version of the Nvidia 7800 for a reasonable price and only half an hour out of the way. I know it's time to make the jump to a PCI-Express enabled mother board, but that means a new processor and reformatting so I'm holding out and will just get a whole new machine. I was going to upgrade any more on my current rig, but this was kind of unavoidable. And I'm not going to complain about having a 7800 in my box. ;-)

The Time to Reboot is Nearly Upon Us

May 1st is quickly approaching. I can't believe we're almost into March already! Where has the time gone? What does May 1 mean to you? It's not only the day I emerged from my Mother's womb (oh man, apparently I've been watching too much Family Guy), but a day when hundreds of designers band together to launch shiny new websites as part of the CSS Reboot. Chances are, a great deal of you had no idea who the hell I was before the last November 1st Reboot. This could be your time to shine. The fine folks over at Webjillion have launched a great new site for this May's Reboot and asked if I would be into doing an interview to share my experience. Of course I agreed to help them out. If you yourself run a site and could use some fresh eyes or maybe would like to expand your reach. You should consider signing up for the May 1 CSS Reboot.
