“Are Your Sure You Want To Delete Your Profile?” Yes… I Mean No! Nooo!

I couldn't tell you how many times I've referred to myself as "idiot", "moron" or "tool" tonight. First off, let me preface this story by reminding you that I moved at the beginning of the week and have been spending every day since getting our new place up to speed. That's meant lots of late nights and hours on end of un-packing and settings things up. Needless to say, I'm totally wiped and physically exhausted. We're in good shape now, but it's definitely been a tough week. Regardless, I'm a total idiot and I wish it was physically possible to kick myself in the face. Here's why...

A Little Help From A Small Orange

It's no secret that Media Temple's new Grid-Server hasn't been anything less than a total nightmare for all using it. I posted numerous screenshots from time-to-time when my site would go down. If I had done that for every time it was offline, I probably would have run out of storage space on my Flickr account. :P In all seriousness, though... how long are people going to stick it out? As happy as I am with A Small Orange, I still have a couple others sites on my (mt) account and therefore still feeling the pain. I've simply been too busy lately to bother moving them all over, but I'm going to have to soon as it's taking its toll on my sanity.

Introducing Dashboard Themes

I'm extremely happy to announce the "top secret Xbox related site" I've been working on for the past few months is up and running! Dashboard Themes is the first and only site that allows you to preview Xbox 360 dashboard themes as they appear within the dashboard before dropping any coin on them. The current state of the Xbox Live Marketplace doesn't give you an option to preview content before you pay and Microsoft's online components for Marketplace content don't do much better. I came up with an idea to fill this gaping whole, and along with my good friend Andrew McTeer, made it happen.

So Long PC

Late last week I did something I've wanted to do for what seems like months on end - I bought a big, beautiful Mac. I've been a PC user since day one and have only had a Mac of my own for a short time while I was working for the Participatory Culture Foundation. Since the day I sent it back to MA, I've missed it dearly. My PC has been giving me so much grief lately, I couldn't tolerate it any more and simply hopped in my car one morning at 10am when the Apple Store opened, and returned with a massive box containing my shiny, new 24" iMac.

December 2006 Catch All

Things have been so hectic lately, and yet I feel like I'm hardly moving in any direction at all. I've definitely been feeling like I'm living to work, as apposed to the opposite which I much prefer. It truly is a hard cycle to break - one that I've not even begun to figure out. It's one of those "you know what needs to be done but can't seem to bring yourself to do it" situations. And all the while I've been telling myself that I'm almost there. Just about in the clear when I can have my evenings and weekends back.

Rainbow Six Dodge

So, I've been playing Rainbow Six Vegas lately. I'm just about through the second mission which is the first that actually takes place in Vegas. I couldn't help but notice that everyone in Vegas drives a Dodge. Maybe that's because the streets are laid out like dealership showroom, littered with the latest Dodge vehicles. Even while fighting through a series of super intense, close quarter gun fights, you'll find the brand new Dodge Ram pick-up shimmering and shining as the city around it is burning and being blown to shit. I mean, I'm all for realism, but couldn't they be a littler more subtle?

Hey Rogers Cable, What Happened to Quality Assurance?

I remember a time, not too long ago, when a customer had a problem with a service that was being provided, the retailer would compensate them in some form or other. Waived fees, gift certificates, upgraded services, etc. That doesn't seem to be the case these days. I'm finding more and more companies are totally content being mediocre, at best. Well I don't know about you, but I'm fucking sick of it! I'm paying good money every month for services and products that are sub-standard and I think I've finally had enough.
