As we approached the holiday gaming flood, Mirror’s Edge was on my “it has potential” list as opposed to my “must buy” list. After getting my hands on the demo a couple weeks prior to its release, that changed. But with so many games just out, and still a handful of big titles on the […]
With the exception of the save functionality, this game is top notch, old school gaming greatness! And on top of everything, it's $15 cheaper than most DS games. You really can't go wrong with New Super Mario Bros.
Mass Effect was a game I was completely prepared to pass by without a second look. After-all, it was an RPG from the guys that made the original Knights of the Old Republic. While that excited many people, it turned me off instantly. I have never been a huge RPG fan, and the turn-based combat of KOTOR did nothing for me. After hearing so many great things about Mass Effect, I picked it up on sale one day, and ended up playing it through 3 full times. Needless to say, its sequel is a game I had been looking forward to even before it was officially announced. Now it's here, I'm on my second play-through, and even as I'm writing this, I'm itching to drop everything and jump back into it. Mass Effect 2 bests its predecessor in every way, and that's saying a lot!
In a move that will no doubt piss off Xbox 360 gamers world-wide, Official Xbox Magazine has a playable demo of F.E.A.R. bundled with it's October issue. Since magazines for whatever reason, publish their issues a couple months in advance - you can get your hands on it now! The only downer (aside from the fact that you can't just download it from the Marketplace) is the price of the magazine - which cost me nearly $15 CDN. But, it's F.E.A.R. and I just couldn't let it pass me by. After all, the PC version of F.E.A.R. is still my highest rated game to date.
It feels like it's been ages since Fable II won me over, but it's just been a couple years. Regardless, I was more than a little anxious to dive back into the world of Albion, with the release of Fable III. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was dampened pretty early on by some major technical issues and changes to common game design mechanics that left me scratching my head. But that hasn't stopped me from sinking over 25 hours into it, and I still have plenty left to take care of.
When the hotly anticipated Resident Evil 5 demo hit the Xbox Live Marketplace early last week, I added it to my queue first thing in the morning so I could play as soon as my work day was done. Being a long time fan of the series, and having played through Resident Evil 4 at […]
While the big, annual X’0 event that takes place in Europe about this time every year was canceled, the smaller, more intimate Toronto event still happened, and man was it ever great! I know it seems like every year is the biggest year for gaming, but this year it really is. Looking back on last […]
Well, it finally happened. Instead of seeing a green quarter light up when I turn on my Xbox 360, I get a red one. Just one, which apparently is worse than the infamous 3 red lights of death. It happened last night just after Deanna got home from work. I was all excited about the […]
For the past couple years I’ve been flying solo pretty much exclusively. It’s only been recently that I’ve been collaborating with other designers and developers during my freelance journeys and time at Graphics.net. Now that my work is changing hands, I find myself spending a few extra minutes tidying things up before I pass them […]
I had grown tired of the annual release cycle, but Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the best game in the franchise since Black Flag, as far as I'm concerned.
If you simply enjoy playing Destiny and want new things to strive for, Rise of Iron provides that. But if you're not a fan of Destiny due to its repetition, I'm afraid Rise of Iron only fuels those flames.
As familiar as it feels for veterans of the series, there are enough new additions to keep things interesting, and a fantastic story ties it all together.
