Tomb Raider Underworld is a True Test of Patience

Lara and I have had a pretty good relationship to date. For the third consecutive year, we’ve hooked up and spent 12-15 enjoyable hours tracking down ancient treasures and weapons, solving massive puzzles, all the while collecting goodies and defeating baddies. We’ve traveled the world a few times over and have always parted ways with smiles on our faces. Unfortunately, this time I’m left feeling a little burned. Lara was far more defiant than I recalled – jumping into walls, instead of jumping up to grab the near-by ledge. Or flat-out jumping the wrong…

My Halo 3 Beta Invite Arrived Early

Shortly after I decided to spend my Friday night getting myself ahead on some of the projects I’ve got on the go, an email landed in my inbox that changed everything. I saw a Growl notification out of the corner of my eye that read, “Subject: Halo 3 Beta – advance code & assets” and I swear my heart sank as my eyes popped out of my skull. Early this evening I spent about half an hour watching some dudes at GameSpot play the multiplayer beta live. Then 2 of my friends appeared…

Surprise! “Achievement Unlocked”

I’ve been going through a pretty dry spell in regards to increasing my Gamerscore. This is mostly due to the fact that new game releases have been trickling out every other week at best for the past couple months. There just isn’t a whole lot to play right now on the 360. But here’s where the whole achievement points system really shines. When I realized I hadn’t gone up a single point in about 2 weeks, I went back and checked out which achievements were still up for grabs in my current games.

Tomb Raider Legend: Review

Tomb Raider Legend is a visual feast and a blast to play through the first couple times. Unfortunately, once you’ve beaten the game, there’s nothing else to do unless you’re into gathering collectibles and hidden treasures. Luckily, there’s decent rewards in the form of achievements in store for those that have the patience to find them all.

The Good: Lara’s back in another Tomb Raider game. The campaign is a lot of fun and remains enjoyable on your second and even third time through. Lots of fairly easy achievement points to be had here –…

Raiding Tombs and Pwning Battlefields

I picked the best time to buy an Xbox 360. The week I bought it, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Burnout 3 hit the shelves. Since then, there’s been a steady flow of new content in the form of demos, trailers, themes and picture packages showing up in the Marketplace. It’s been almost a month now, and there hasn’t been a day gone by that I haven’t at least turned on my 360 to see what’s new in the Marketplace.

About a week and a half ago, the long-awaited demo for Battlefield 2 Modern Combat was released. A few days passed it’s initial release date, but hey, it’s out and it’s awesome! It’s a single multiplayer map and I must have played it at least a few dozen times. It seems like every other day I fire it up and play a few rounds. The game is just great! I’m a long time fan of the series, but was greatly disappointed by the bugs and flaws that have plagued Battlefield 2. I hardly got to play it at all. Now, I realize that BF2 MC is not Battlefield 2, but it does share some similarities. Most notably, the fast paced, incredibly fun and addictive online play. If you’ve played any of the Battlefield games you know that this is where the series shines, and BF2 MC is no exception.
