It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year and a half since Skate was released. And yet, I would have happily waited longer if it meant some extra polish on the sequel. While Skate 2 takes steps to further innovate the control scheme, add some fun new multiplayer modes, and brings an entirely new massive city to explore, it falls flat on its face in many of the same areas its predecessor did. Which is truly saddening, to say the least. When I first sat down with Skate 2, I had a checklist in my head of issues that I hoped I didn’t see. It wasn’t long before I had witnessed all of them, and added some new annoyances to my list.

Just after this year’s E3, I wrote about all the great games that are coming out by the end of this year and broke them down into two lists. Games I will most likely buy and others that I’m on the fence about. The year isn’t up yet and we’re actually in the calm before the storm at this point in time. But I don’t know about you, I’m feeling the pinch and having a hard time getting all the gaming in that I’d like to. I’ve already put a few games on the back-burner…

I’m sure some of you are surprised with it being over a week now since Halo 3 was released and I’m yet to write about it. In fact, I have no intentions on really getting into it just yet as I still have so much to take in. It really is a complete package. Of course, you have the killer single player campaign with about 18 reasons to replay it. The ridiculously fun and addictive multiplayer that will no doubt be the top Xbox Live game for years to come. Plus, there’s the addition…

Skate instantly jumped from being a title I was merely keeping an eye on, to being at the top of my must buy list after the release of the demo. After getting a taste of the campaign at X’07, the deal was sealed and I knew I was going to sink a crazy amount of hours into Skate. Now that the game is out and I’ve had nearly a full week with it, I’m stoked to say that it definitely does live up to my expectations, but with nearly every aspect of…

I’m excited to be writing about Heavenly Sword for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, this is post about a PlayStation 3 game. And secondly, I wasn’t expecting to really get into Heavenly Sword. At least, not for a few months. Since it was set to be released a day after Skate and less than two weeks prior to Halo 3, I figured there simply wouldn’t be time for it. It seems Skate’s delay has brought a positive spin about and given me good reason to spend some quality time with…

While the big, annual X’0 event that takes place in Europe about this time every year was canceled, the smaller, more intimate Toronto event still happened, and man was it ever great! I know it seems like every year is the biggest year for gaming, but this year it really is. Looking back on last year’s event, there really weren’t that many huge titles being released for the holidays. Where as, this year the abundance of awesomeness has already started to trickle down the pipe. BioShock, Metroid Prime 3 and Warhawk all being released…

Every year since I started this blog, I’ve followed up E3 with my own reflections on the major platforms and up-coming games. Last year I wrote at length on the hardware and software Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony’s brought to the event. But, I’ve decided to skip this year. I really didn’t see a whole lot that impressed me. I feel re-assured that the Xbox 360 is the platform with the most promise, both now and in future, but Nintendo and Sony really failed to impress me yet again. So much so, that…
