I’ve always enjoyed racing games. Dating back to my first console, the Nintendo Entertainment System, R.C. Pro Am was a game that I sank a huge amount of hours into. Through the console generations, racing and driving games have evolved into full-blown simulations. Hell, we even play them with realistic wheels and pedals for the closest possible experience to being in an actual vehicle. Personally, I get more enjoyment out of a game that lets me drive cars that I otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to, and on roads that will likely never be beneath me. I’ve played my share of racing games over the years, but none have nailed the experience I’m after as well as Forza Motorsport, and the fourth iteration is no exception.

First off, I’m not the world’s biggest fan of The Beatles. In all honesty, I’m not really a fan at all. Prior to the release of The Beatles: Rock Band, there wasn’t an album by the The Beatles to be found in my iTunes library. But leading up to the release of this game, I found myself getting more and more excited about rocking out to some of the most well known songs in the history of pop music, and I was not let down. For one reason or another, I never spent as much time playing drums in Rock Band as I would have liked. Mainly, the addition of the fourth member to the Brett household. But also from a technical standpoint, the Rock Band kit isn’t exactly a work of art. Sure, it does the job. But it’s too light and very loud out of the box. As I await the arrival of my dual neoprene pads, I started wondering if I should have just held off and waited for Rock Band 2. Then E3 rolled around …

With having a new baby and recently going back to freelance work, my schedule/routine has been thrown off quite a bit. It’s pretty tough to plan… anything, actually. Let alone, setting aside some dedicated time for gaming. I’ve basically just been parking my ass on the couch whenever it’s free and the baby’s either sleeping or occupied by someone else. Surprisingly, I’ve been able to get in a bit of gaming every other day or so, which is far more than I anticipated. But as you can tell by the frequency of my posts lately, …

While the big, annual X’0 event that takes place in Europe about this time every year was canceled, the smaller, more intimate Toronto event still happened, and man was it ever great! I know it seems like every year is the biggest year for gaming, but this year it really is. Looking back on last year’s event, there really weren’t that many huge titles being released for the holidays. Where as, this year the abundance of awesomeness has already started to trickle down the pipe. BioShock, Metroid Prime 3 and Warhawk all being released …

Every year since I started this blog, I’ve followed up E3 with my own reflections on the major platforms and up-coming games. Last year I wrote at length on the hardware and software Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony‘s brought to the event. But, I’ve decided to skip this year. I really didn’t see a whole lot that impressed me. I feel re-assured that the Xbox 360 is the platform with the most promise, both now and in future, but Nintendo and Sony really failed to impress me yet again. So much so, that I …
