Branching Out, While Reaching Out

It’s been a couple years now, since the CSS Reboot that lead to the internets knowing who the heck “Matt Brett” is. I’ve done a lot in that time. Produced dozens of ramblings about video games, and life in general. Made a name for myself as a decent designer. Launched a couple of projects that made a pretty big splash. And kept everyone up-to-date on my personal life via Twitter and Flickr. Along the way, I’ve crossed paths with people from all over the world via all…

I’m Contaminated

I’ve been working from home for over a year and I haven’t contracted any sort of illness since. When I worked at MuchMusic, it seemed like I would always catch whatever was going around the big, stinky city. I guess that’s one of the bonuses of not coming into contact with too many humans on a day-to-day. On Wednesday I ventured out of the my office that I like to call “the cave” into the real world to rock the latest and greatest Xbox 360 titles at X’06 (the Canadian version). Somewhere between chainsawing dudes in Gears of War and trying to beat Andrew’s lap time in Forza 2, I became infected.

So, here I go!

Remember this? It’s been just over two weeks and every aspect of my ‘professional life’ has changed. On Wednesday, June 29 I accepted a job offer to act as Site Manager for Participatory Culture Foundation. PCF was founded by the dudes behind Downhill Battle. Between DHB and their current focus – an opensource internet tv platform, I must say, I’m pretty stoked to be a part of the team! Imagine – spending my days working on projects that I can stand behind and be proud of. Amazing!

This coming week is my last…

Upgrades In Progress

It’s been a slow month around these parts. Mainly do the madness that is the MMVAs. I’ve had a hard time keeping motivated as it seemed like the day job was sucking every last drop of life out of me. But that’s over and done with for another year, so it’s time to get back on track!

Over the past month, I’ve been trying to sway myself away from PC gaming. I’ve gone over the pros and cons of both PC gaming and console gaming and on many levels, console gaming is the better…

Keep Plugging Away

Man, am I ever [fucking] drained! The past few weeks have been so busy and there’s been so much going on in all aspects of my life, that I feel that I just can’t keep up, but I have to keep plugging away. Not because I want to – I would definitely love to just drop everything for a couple weeks and do nothing but hang out with the family and play video games. Starting Thursday, June 30 at 8pm right through until Monday, June 18 – that’s exactly what I’ll going to be doing.…

The View From My Desk: QOTSA

It’s been a pretty slow couple of months in the Much HQ – as far as performances go anyways. As I type this, Queens Of The Stone Age are doing their soundcheck. This photo was taken as they were playing No One Knows.

The View From My Desk: k-os

Today was a good day. k-os and his band rocked the shit out of MuchOnDemand! Normally, a band would play a song or two, max. k-os was on the show for the full hour and played 3 songs (MC Murdah, B-boy Stance and Crabbuckit) off his album – as well as a jam at the end with some b-boys breakdancing. Rad shit I tell you!

Note: I know it’s a little blurry, but them dudes were rockin’ the f-o!
