Burnout Paradise, a Great Franchise Returns!

About two months ago, I was hating on Burnout Paradise something fierce. And with good reason! A demo was released that poorly represented the incredible game that is the full Burnout Paradise experience. I’ve never seen an upset over a demo quite like this, and it definitely proves that they don’t work for every game. Such is the case with Burnout Paradise. Perhaps if the demo was delivered with a disclaimer and a bit of an explanation as to what had changed and what’s been stripped out of the demo, it would have…

Burnout Paradise, a Great Franchise Ruined

These past couple weeks have brought some major disappointments. It’s actually to the point now where I’m dreading anything new coming along that I’ve been anticipating as it’s likely to be crap. Let’s do a quick re-cap – XBL Video Marketplace is released in Canada with garbage line-up and ridiculously high prices. Xbox Originals launches with great line-up, but ridiculously high prices. iTunes TV comes to Canada with garbage line-up, reasonable prices but nothing worth purchasing. Unreal Tournament 3 is released for PlayStation 3, but has no split-screen play what-so-ever. And finally, Burnout Paradise demo…

Surprise! “Achievement Unlocked”

I’ve been going through a pretty dry spell in regards to increasing my Gamerscore. This is mostly due to the fact that new game releases have been trickling out every other week at best for the past couple months. There just isn’t a whole lot to play right now on the 360. But here’s where the whole achievement points system really shines. When I realized I hadn’t gone up a single point in about 2 weeks, I went back and checked out which achievements were still up for grabs in my current games.

The past few weeks have been so insanely busy for me. I know I’ve said this before, but I really don’t think I’ve ever had so much to do in my entire life. I’ve been working so much that I actually grew intolerant to my chair. I would sit down and immediately stand back up. Just couldn’t do it any more. And since this chair is home base for work and play, I found myself in need of a new avenue for entertainment. Since selling my Xbox back in July and Hannah claiming the GameCube as her own, I’ve only really had my PC for gaming. For whatever reason, I haven’t been into watching movies for months now and we might have rented a handful of movies since the summer. Deanna and I used to watch a few movies a week, but for whatever reason, that just stopped. I decided it was time to re-establish some old relationships with my DVD player, GameCube and even picked up another Xbox. And that would be a regular old Xbox, not a 360. Even if I wanted to get an Xbox 360 right now, I couldn’t as they’re still, 2 months after launch, hard to come by. Now that’s just fuckin’ ridiculous!

Post E3 2005 Thoughts

It’s been just over a week since E3 wrapped up. I’ve watched dozens of trailers, read tons of articles and seen a ridiculous amount of stunning screenshots. I tell ya – this is an exciting time for gamers!

GameSpot’s coverage of the event was impeccable this year. I signed up for a GameSpot Complete membership for E3 last year so I could watch the press conferences live. The problem was that the majority of the live feeds were chugging so bad they weren’t watchable. Kind of disappointing, but I ended up downloading something like…
