The Battlefield franchise is one of my personal favourites, dating back to the first game in the series – Battlefield 1942, which debuted on the PC back in 2002. I’ve played every release since, with the exception of BF2142, since I’m no longer into PC gaming. Naturally, I snagged Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on day-one, and have been playing it steady for the past couple weeks. The campaign has long since been completed, and the multiplayer end of the game has a firm grasp on my testicles.

It’s been nearly 7 years since the release of Battlefield 1942, but I often find myself looking back on the countless hours I spent playing that game with fond memories. It was not only a blast to play, but also quite influential in that it paved the way for many online conquest style games to follow. Needless to say, I was just a little excited when I caught wind of Battlefield 1943 – a pseudo remake of this classic game. Now it’s here, in our hands, and it’s bloody brilliant!

Red Faction: Guerrilla is a game that took me by surprise in a big way. I’ve played previous Red Faction games, and while they stood their ground, they were never games that you talked about long after you finished playing. RFG is the exception to the series, and easily one of the most flat-out fun games I’ve played.

While my history with the Battlefield series has its ups and downs, my experience with Bad Company has been on the up side of things from the get-go. While many things have changed, it still feels very much like a Battlefield game. Even the single player campaign plays like a multiplayer game – when you die, you don’t have to restart from your last checkpoint, you merely re-spawn and pick up where you left off. I’ve had mixed emotions towards the latest installation in the Battlefield franchise, Bad Company. Mostly due to my history with the series. I played Battlefield 1942 to death. Battlefield Vietnam saw quite a bit of action on my old PC gaming rig as well. By the time Battlefield 2 came out, my PC was a bit behind the times and struggled to keep up, so I didn’t play too much.
