Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter: Review

G.R.A.W. was the system seller for me. I've been considering an Xbox 360 since it's release and with the PC version being pushed back a couple months and me hating on PC gaming these days, I just had to pick one up. It is, without a doubt, one of the best games I've played. Even though I beat it over a week ago, I've still been playing it pretty steady. I highly recommend you check this game out if you're a 360 owner - and if not, it might be time to seriously consider making that investment.

GRAW Pissed Me Off

First off, GRAW is quite possibly the dumbest acronym ever. How about we just call it GR3? Sounds good... As I mentioned in my last post, I picked up an Xbox 360 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (yes, the full name is pretty dumb too) last weekend. I've been playing it quite a bit and have almost completed the single player campaign. I think I just wrapped up the eighth or ninth mission of eleven. Really enjoying the game, until this last mission. Let me quote the back of the GR3 box...

Changing Gears… Again

For as long as I've been a PC gamer, I've spent about equal time hating it as I have loving it. I really wish I could just let it go - pick up an Xbox 360 and never look back. That was me, 4 months ago. 2 nights ago - Thursday, March 9 2006, I kicked the habit. First thing Friday morning, I went out and bought a 360 and have been playing the shit out Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter all weekend and couldn't be happier!

Raiding Tombs and Pwning Battlefields

I picked the best time to buy an Xbox 360. The week I bought it, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Burnout 3 hit the shelves. Since then, there's been a steady flow of new content in the form of demos, trailers, themes and picture packages showing up in the Marketplace. It's been almost a month now, and there hasn't been a day gone by that I haven't at least turned on my 360 to see what's new in the Marketplace.

The Ones that Slipped Through the Cracks

With having a new baby and recently going back to freelance work, my schedule/routine has been thrown off quite a bit. It’s pretty tough to plan… anything, actually. Let alone, setting aside some dedicated time for gaming. I’ve basically just been parking my ass on the couch whenever it’s free and the baby’s either sleeping […]

10,000

I picked up my (first) Xbox 360 back in April and recently passed a huge milestone. In just 7 months I managed to rake in over 10,000 Gamerscore points. I've never really been overly competitive or cared about scores and arbitrary numbers that really don't serve any purpose. But for whatever reason, the Gamerscore comprised of unlocked Achievements, has had me by the balls from day one.

Post E3 2005 Thoughts

It’s been just over a week since E3 wrapped up. I’ve watched dozens of trailers, read tons of articles and seen a ridiculous amount of stunning screenshots. I tell ya – this is an exciting time for gamers! GameSpot‘s coverage of the event was impeccable this year. I signed up for a GameSpot Complete membership […]

Xbox 360 Officially Announced

The wait is over. No more need for rumours or speculation. Microsoft has finally let the cat out of the bag and introduced the world to Xbox 360. The specs are pertty damn impressive – but if those numbers don’t mean much to you, check out the first batch of screenshots and gameplay footage. GameSpot […]

We’re Quickly Approaching My Favourite Time of Year

Every year post-E3, I like to write about the event and talk about all the things that got me excited. For one reason or another, I didn’t get around to it this year. That’s not to say that I wasn’t paying attention – I had a browser window open with streaming video of each of […]

So, I’m Rebooting May 1

As I mentioned last time I wrote on this subject, I've been debating whether or not to take part in the May 1 CSS Reboot. Last night while waiting for something to upload, I cracked open my most recent PSD of the homepage layout, dated October 16, 2005. Roughly two-and-a-half hours later, I had made a fair bit of progress and was feeling good about where it seems to be going. I immediately made my way over to the CSS Reboot site and signed up. You see, if I don't have a deadline, I don't get shit done. And hey, the November 1 CSS Reboot helped me roll this bad boy out, so let's see how May 1 does for my personal domain.

Xbox 360 Through an LCD: Cable Comparison

Over the past couple months, I've had a number of people ask how my 21" widescreen LCD performs with the Xbox 360. To be honest, I haven't really been using my monitor for gaming much since one my primary reasons for getting a 360 was to get myself away from this chair once in a while. I'm currently using my 27" Sony Trinitron television with the S-Video cable. It's the best resolution I can get on my standard definition television and it'll hold me over until I can drop the cash for an HDTV. Since I've already got 2 cables in my position, I went out and picked up the VGA cable for the 360 to do a little comparison. The results blew me away!

I Never Talked About Lost Planet

There were a few games I had planned to review, but after losing all my progress when I deleted my profile and having pretty much made the decision to ditch the formal reviews, I just never got around to them. Over the next week or so, I’m going to roll out a bunch of posts […]
