No, I’m not sick of World War II games – to be honest, I don’t think I ever could be. As long as they keep varying the game type, I’m good. I think we can all agree the WWII FPS market is a little flooded, but there aren’t many (any?) really good aerial combat games. I was totally looking forward to Secret Weapons Over Normandy, especially since Michael Giacchino was announced as being the composer months before it’s release. I should have known when the soundtrack was getting more hype than the game. The flying just wasn’t that good. I loved the flying engine in Battlefield 1942, and everything else just doesn’t seem to cut it. Until now!

I guess we can bid a fond farewell to the Doom engine… and might as well say our goodbyes to Source and maybe even Unreal while we’re at it. 3 dudes working out of an apartment on their own money are working on a game codenamed Project Offset, which is looking pretty incredible at an early stage. They’re developing a next-gen engine that’s going to give all the big boys and run for their money. Project Offset isn’t your typical FPS either. It’s set in a fantasy world comparable to that of which you …

I’m sure you’ve all heard about the infamous sex minigame in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, dubbed ‘Hot Coffee‘, so I’ll spare you the details. The whole re-rating of the game to make an adults only title is completely ridiculous! It should have been rated AO to begin with. The thing that makes it so incredibly lame is the fact that none of the major retailers [in the States] will stock AO rated games. San Andreas was previously rated Mature, which means you have to be at least 17 to purchase or …

It’s been a slow month around these parts. Mainly do the madness that is the MMVAs. I’ve had a hard time keeping motivated as it seemed like the day job was sucking every last drop of life out of me. But that’s over and done with for another year, so it’s time to get back on track!
Over the past month, I’ve been trying to sway myself away from PC gaming. I’ve gone over the pros and cons of both PC gaming and console gaming and on many levels, console gaming is the better …

I’ve been into the Battlefield series since the first installment, Battlefield 1942. Aside from the original Half-Life, BF 1942 was probably the game I’ve spent most hours playing. I was totally hooked on it. BF Vietnam, not as much. To be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to BF 2 in the least. BF Vietnam never ran all that great on my system and was pretty buggy. I figured BF 2 would be a write-off. But so far, so good! The demo runs great! Mind you, I have all my settings on medium and low with the resolution at 1024×768, but it looks surprisingly good and plays perfect.

It’s been just over a week since E3 wrapped up. I’ve watched dozens of trailers, read tons of articles and seen a ridiculous amount of stunning screenshots. I tell ya – this is an exciting time for gamers!
GameSpot‘s coverage of the event was impeccable this year. I signed up for a GameSpot Complete membership for E3 last year so I could watch the press conferences live. The problem was that the majority of the live feeds were chugging so bad they weren’t watchable. Kind of disappointing, but I ended up downloading something like …

I know I’m a bit late writing about this now – as it came out in like September of last year. I actually picked it up the day it was released, but never got around to really playing it until now. The main reason was, the second level in – there were so many dudes on screen that it chugged like a mo’fo. I toned it down to medium details and it didn’t make enough of a difference. And being the nerd I am – I like my games to look the best they can… …

Holy crap it’s good! What’s the deal with Lucas Arts suddenly putting out solid games? I should probably just keep my mouth shut and enjoy it while it lasts.
Anyways, the demo for Republic Commando was released today and you’re damn right I jumped all over it the moment I caught wind. This is one of the ‘gotta have’ games for 2005 – for me anyways. There’s a couple really cool squad-based FPS in development right now that I’ve been dying to try out, SWRC being one of them – Brothers In Arms the other. …

People love year-end lists right? Yeah, me too!
Now, first off. I am only one man. One busy man at that. But I do feel I’ve put in my fair share of hours into gaming over the past year. Some of these hours spent playing games that may not have come out in 2004, but may have still been amongst the best I played. Also keep in mind that I don’t own a PS2. So you’re notta gonna see any mention of Snake Eater or San Andreas in here. Anyways, of all the amazing games …

…well, the movie might. But the game sure as hell doesn’t!
Just before Halo 2 was released, I picked up The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay at Rogers for $25. I was pretty stoked, since I wanted to get the game anyways, and was willing to pay full price – but $25! Come on! Anyways, I didn’t even touch it until about 2 weeks ago. And from the moment I fired it up, I was hooked!
You play as Riddick, Vin Diesel’s character. Yeah I know, Vin Diesel sucks. But believe it or …
