Mass Effect 2 – Enough Said

Mass Effect was a game I was completely prepared to pass by without a second look. After-all, it was an RPG from the guys that made the original Knights of the Old Republic. While that excited many people, it turned me off instantly. I have never been a huge RPG fan, and the turn-based combat of KOTOR did nothing for me. After hearing so many great things about Mass Effect, I picked it up on sale one day, and ended up playing it through 3 full times. Needless to say, its sequel is a game I had been looking forward to even before it was officially announced. Now it’s here, I’m on my second play-through, and even as I’m writing this, I’m itching to drop everything and jump back into it. Mass Effect 2 bests its predecessor in every way, and that’s saying a lot!

Well, not exactly. But it makes for a good title, doesn’t it? I am however, on a bit of a theme development binge this month and next. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that last week I released the first of many themes on ThemeForest (affiliate link) – a marketplace for themes and templates spanning many platforms.

My 2008 Gaming List from Top to Bottom

Aside from a couple of the big guys in the gaming industry, I don’t indulge in year end top XX lists. In fact, I’ve hit “mark all as read” in my feed reader more times over this past week than I likely did over the course of this year. But for some reason, I felt like doing a year end list of my own. Feel free to mark as read and move on, I won’t be offended. But if you do stick around, let me know how my list shapes up compared to your…

I Wasn’t Supposed to Like Fable 2

Fable 2 is a game I never saw myself playing. As we approached the release date, and with every bit of gameplay footage that was released, I found that I was distancing myself further and further. For starters, I’m not a big RPG gamer. I really enjoyed Mass Effect, but I believed that to be a fluke. The fantasy genre isn’t at the top of my list, either. And here we are, with a fantasy RPG. Naturally, it had little appeal from the get-go. But I found myself in a spot where every new game I wanted to play was on my Christmas list (which means I can’t rent or buy them until after the holidays), so I decided to give it a rent… and I’m glad I did!

A Strange Turn of Events

Over the past month or so, I’ve found that my schedule has taken a more hectic and unpredictable turn. Obviously, having a baby around really shakes thing up and it’s pretty hard to plan anything. Whether that be an outing on the weekend, or simply planning to catch up on some TV or gaming in the evening. Whatever I end up doing, I need to be able to drop it at any given second. I’ve found this taking a strange toll on how I play games. I feel like whatever time I have to…

Just after this year’s E3, I wrote about all the great games that are coming out by the end of this year and broke them down into two lists. Games I will most likely buy and others that I’m on the fence about. The year isn’t up yet and we’re actually in the calm before the storm at this point in time. But I don’t know about you, I’m feeling the pinch and having a hard time getting all the gaming in that I’d like to. I’ve already put a few games on the back-burner…

No E3 ’07 Reflections From Me

Every year since I started this blog, I’ve followed up E3 with my own reflections on the major platforms and up-coming games. Last year I wrote at length on the hardware and software Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony‘s brought to the event. But, I’ve decided to skip this year. I really didn’t see a whole lot that impressed me. I feel re-assured that the Xbox 360 is the platform with the most promise, both now and in future, but Nintendo and Sony really failed to impress me yet again. So much so, that…
