Bring on 2006

I’m not going to make a New Year’s Resolution this year. Last year, for the first time, I made one. I didn’t even come close to following it through. While I exceeded my expectations in other areas, the one I had promised myself to improve on was left hanging and has pretty much diminished. And as such, I broke a New Year’s tradition this year. Instead of going over to a friend’s – who has hosted a radass New Year’s Eve party for the past 5 or 6 years, Deanna and I went and saw King Kong. We’ll ring in the new year with our daughter Hannah at the stroke of midnight while sipping on our drinks of choice – a cool Keith’s for this guy and Spumante Bambino for my lady. Sounds good to me!

It’s been quite a year. On the family front, we sorted out everything we needed to in regards to our daughter and Deanna’s ex. All the paper work is done and things are great. We received the official government document verifying Hannah’s name change on December 23, which was by far the best Christmas present we could have asked for. She’s now an official Brett! When they moved here from BC nearly 4 years ago, we all had last names. Deanna used to call us a mutt family. Hah!

It’s not news that it’s been insanely hot the past few weeks. There was a period of a few days that we were actually able to open up all the windows and enjoy the cool breeze as it made it’s way through our apartment, but for the most part, we’ve had the AC on since early June.

I watch the news as I scrape my eye crust out every morning and I swear, I’ve got their local news brief down…

The heat wave continues as we reach close to 40 degrees when you factor in

Savages: Part 2

It’s been over three months since I decided – or rather, was persuaded to stop consuming animals. A lot has changed in that time and I’m happy to say that it hasn’t been as tough as I was expecting it to be. I haven’t been able to cut all animal products and bi-products out of my diet entirely. But I feel that I’ve taken some giant steps forward and am proud of myself and my family for that.

I was pleasantly surprised to find there’s an abundance of products out there for veggies and vegans …

Resident Evil 4: Review

Being a huge fan of the Resident Evil series since RE 2 was released on the Playstation many moons ago – I could hardly wait for RE 4 to be released! Last weekend I rented it and Deanna and I played it Friday, Saturday and Sunday night for a few hours each. It’s such a great game, I hardly know where to start.

A Proud Day For Daddy

This morning as we were getting Hannah ready for school, Deanna realized she forgot to practice her presentation last night – that she is doing today. Hannah’s reaction was pure gold…

“But Mommy, I forgot cause I was playing video games allllll weekend!”

Amazing! A gamer in training! She played hours upon hours of Mario Party 5 and Mario Golf this weekend. She’s 6, and already well on her way!…
