I knew while I was working on reproducing the feed icon that some folks would find it useful. I had no idea it would take off as it did! I’m extremely stoked that so many people have embraced it and accepted it as the new standard icon. Feels great knowing that I’ve created something that others can benefit from – all for the sake of a better internet.
A ton of eyeballs have seen this site in the past 48 hours and that’s rad as hell – but who wants to read some dude’s long-winded article and have to scroll all the way to the bottom of it to download the icon package? Figured that this icon is important enough to give it a proper home. And thus, I present to you feedicons.com.

On December 14, the Microsoft RSS Team made an announcement on their blog. This announcement is extremely important on many levels and I’m really surprised there hasn’t been more talk about it. And as such, I figured I would take this opportunity to jump all over that shit and try and get things moving! So what was so important, you ask?

When I determined how much content I wanted to deliver up front, I knew it would be a challenge to differentiate each section at first glance and to present it all in a way that wasn’t overwhelming or seem cluttered. This is where the use of colour comes into play. I love pink, and pink and black is the hottest combo ever. So pink represents this guy right here – whether it be the body of a post or a comment I’ve left. Green is “external” or off-site links and blue represents user feedback.

Over a week’s passed since the first annual November 1 CSS Reboot. And what a week it’s been! Some how, I ended up on the front page of many design showcase sites that I frequent (list here) – which was awesome to say the least. This brought tons of fresh eyes to my site and in turn, lots of questions in regards to how I have things setup here. I even received a handful of emails asking for my WordPress templates. While I’m not going to hand them over (yet), I will…

Where do I start? The past few days have been incredible around these parts! I joined the CSS Reboot back in August mainly to motivate myself to actually do something with this site and to get my portfolio online (which is on the way). When mid-October rolled around and I was still working on the design, I considered backing out. I had already done tons of planning and research and had some new tricks up my sleeve that I was dying to try out, so I stuck it out – worked many late nights and …

Update, November 1: The CSS Reboot site is now showcasing all of the new designs. If you like my design and wouldn’t mind taking a minute to vote for me, that’d be radass! You can do so here. It’s sorted by username, so just look for me… about half way down.
Whoa, hey… I’m back! Feels like I’ve been offline forever, when it was only a couple weeks. Which in internet time, translates to about 2 years, I’m sure. Anyhow, I’m back and I’ve got a fancy… errr, dirty new site!
As …

A client of mine asked me if I could go in and customize their MySpace profile. Figuring I’d just be entering some hex codes into input boxes, I agreed to help out. 3 frustrating hours later, I’ve succeeded in doing noooooooothing! There is no theme management or customization type area. In order to change the style, you have to enter a hacked and slashed version of html and css into any of the boxes that contain your information.
Obviously, customization was an after-thought… and they really shouldn’t have bothered with it. The profile pages (or …

The road from ugly-ass, table-abusive coding to standards compliant XHTML/CSS is definitely a bumpy one. There have been so many browser specific issues I’ve had to find work-arounds for I’m not even going to attempt to list them here. One of them has been plaguing this site since I redesigned it, and you may have noticed it if you’re an IE user. Right-aligned images disappeared all together, leaving a big, white space. After re-coding the CSS for the surrounding DIVs several times, I had almost lost hope and tried applying various styles to the img …

All I had planned for tonight, was hours on end of smokin’ demons in Doom 3. Turned out, all the projects I have on the go are ‘on hold’ until I hear from my clients. So I decided to take advantage of the situtation and get moving on Media Press version 9. I started working on the layout back in May and have only had a couple chances since to work on it. I cut it up and starting building pages and everything was going great. Then I opened it up in IE. Motherbitch looked …
