Congrats on the 10k. I'm still looking to break the 1k mark, but I should get it soon.

Did you see the guy with 100k (<a href="http://www.destructoid.com/stripclubdj-hits-100-000-gamer-score-updated-28143.phtml" rel="nofollow">link</a>)?

I'm not sure if I should be impressed or sad for that guy.

My GamerScore has me totally hooked too. I've raked in 140 in a week, but man do I want more. It's like an addiction; I find myself doing whatever possible to increase my points.

Admitably my brother's been helping me up that score. :P

First off congrats on the Gamerscore thats pretty impressive.
I have to totally agree with you on how influential the Gamerscore and achievements can be. I was happy to see this kind of idea in Battlefield on PC.
Unfortunately this also influenced a lot of cheating because some people just had to be on the top of the Leaderboard. All in all I think it´s great and I am really excited about the way things are changing in gaming console and PC. I think we are gonna be seeing some really cool stuff in the near future on the 360 also with the camera now and everything .

@Stewart: Ah, COD2 is a perfect example of the greatness of Achievements. While they could have gone a bit broader with the offerings (IE. there's no online Achievements to be had), I can't say I would have played COD2 on Hard if it wasn't for the points.

@Tboss: I wrote about <a href="http://mattbrett.com/archives/2006/03/changing-gears-again/" rel="nofollow">my departure from PC gaming here</a>. I definitely don't have any regrets at all and to be honest, there's only been one game since March (I thought it was April when I picked up my 360, but it was March) that's been PC only that I wish I was able to play, and that's Company of Heroes.

The only experience that I tie to PC gaming is the constant aggravation you're forced to endure time and time again. And no, I don't miss that at all. :P

@Chris: Awesome! You'll get enough points from those 3.

@Luke: I assume you're talking about the Xbox version? The 360 version still had your stealth score with full break down after each mission.

This is why I loved splinter cell chaos theory, the rating you got at the ended always pushed you to try harder next time and get it to 100% (which I did). I have no idea why they took this out in double agent.

Congrats!!!

I'm still somewhere with my 3000 points :) And I bought the XBOX 360 on day 1... But I am a louzy gamer. I just have to love a game to finish it.

But you are right. Those achievements make you play the game in a different way.

I am a huge Halo-Fan, but I never searched for thos skulls in Halo2. If there were any achievements for those, I would have found all of them :)

Hey Matt, I been checkin out your site for some time and love your work. It caught my eye when you said that you "retired from PC gaming entirely" and was wondering if its because of the high cost of keepin the pc updated or was there somthin I missed in you past forums that turned you off from pc? Since I also gave up on it because of the dang dual sli prices I'm now changin over to the 360....just wondering if you miss pc gaming experience at all?
Take care man and keep doin what makes you happy!

I was thinking this recently too.

I've always been a gamer but now with the 360 achievements I'm way more dedicated about beating games.
