Comeback Kid: Wake The Dead

First off – fuck yeah! It’s been a while since I’ve had my ass kicked, and Comeback Kid did just that with their new album, Wake The Dead.

Recorded at The Blasting Room with Mr. Bill Stevenson (of Only Crime, Descendents/All, Black Flag fame), this album is super hard-hitting and just plain awesome through-and-through! It reminds me of the first couple Raised Fist albums combined with some Kid Dynamite, Good Riddance and lots of balls. Tons of balls even! This album reeks of balls! Ok, that’s a little gross… but you get the …

Star Wars Republic Commando Demo

Holy crap it’s good! What’s the deal with Lucas Arts suddenly putting out solid games? I should probably just keep my mouth shut and enjoy it while it lasts.

Anyways, the demo for Republic Commando was released today and you’re damn right I jumped all over it the moment I caught wind. This is one of the ‘gotta have’ games for 2005 – for me anyways. There’s a couple really cool squad-based FPS in development right now that I’ve been dying to try out, SWRC being one of them – Brothers In Arms the other. …

Mercenaries

It came out of nowhere, blew me away, then left me blowing shit up for hours-upon-hours.

It might look like a Grand Theft Auto knock-off at first glance. But put a few hours into it and you’ll see that it varies quite a bit from the usual GTA gameplay. It’s much more linear and mission based. Graphically, it’s miles ahead of the blocky figures we’re used to in GTA. The lighting and use of ‘light-bloom’ or over-brightening is simply beautiful. The sound and music are incredible – mostly due to the fact that Michael Giacchino

Lagwagon: Live In A Dive

The first time I listened to this album, I swear I was transported back to 1995. Looking back on so many great memories; my first big show – Rancid with AFI at the Warehouse, endless days of skateboarding and rocking my first band. So rad!

I will admit, I haven’t been super into Lagwagon since the original drummer left and being disappointed by their mediocre performance at Warped Tour ’97. But that hasn’t stopped me from loving this record and has actually got me listening to their newer albums with a new found fondness.…

Wacky Hair Day

Whoa! That’s some hair… and some attitude! That’s Hannah’s ‘sassy’ look. Hilarious! Friday was ‘Wacky Hair Day’ at school and Hannah thought some teased pigtails would do the trick. They suuuuure did! Click here for some more sassyness from over the holidays.

On a different note, it’s been a hectic week for me. Mad sick last weekend and the snow this week has slowed me down considerably. For the most part, I was playing catch-up and ended up crazy stressed. Not cool. But I guess that’s what happens when you work a full time job …

Another IE/CSS bug squashed

The road from ugly-ass, table-abusive coding to standards compliant XHTML/CSS is definitely a bumpy one. There have been so many browser specific issues I’ve had to find work-arounds for I’m not even going to attempt to list them here. One of them has been plaguing this site since I redesigned it, and you may have noticed it if you’re an IE user. Right-aligned images disappeared all together, leaving a big, white space. After re-coding the CSS for the surrounding DIVs several times, I had almost lost hope and tried applying various styles to the img …

Can I Have My DVD Player Back?

Who [the fuck] thought it was a good idea to force trailers on people and disable standard functionality while they’re playing – forcing the viewer to sit through the entire trailer(s) or having to fast-forward through them? Seriously, what old-ass douchebag said ‘yeah, let’s make them watch a bunch of trailers and disable the menu and next-scene buttons so they have to watch them!’, while sipping his $5 moca-crappa-ccino? And better yet, who approved this idea and actually made it happen?

When I shell-out $20-$30 of my hard-earned cash for a DVD. I do not

Combine Football

I damn near peed my pants today when I came across this forum post among the daily posts on Forever Geek. After reading through the thread, I found out how they were making these hilarious scenes. Some dude named Garry created the ‘Garry Mod‘, which allows you to basically just play around with the coolness of the Half-Life 2 physics engine. I created this funny little scene of 3 combine playing football with a baby[doll]! This is just the beginning! More to come…

The Best Games (I Played) In 2004

People love year-end lists right? Yeah, me too!

Now, first off. I am only one man. One busy man at that. But I do feel I’ve put in my fair share of hours into gaming over the past year. Some of these hours spent playing games that may not have come out in 2004, but may have still been amongst the best I played. Also keep in mind that I don’t own a PS2. So you’re notta gonna see any mention of Snake Eater or San Andreas in here. Anyways, of all the amazing games …

The View From My Desk: k-os

Today was a good day. k-os and his band rocked the shit out of MuchOnDemand! Normally, a band would play a song or two, max. k-os was on the show for the full hour and played 3 songs (MC Murdah, B-boy Stance and Crabbuckit) off his album – as well as a jam at the end with some b-boys breakdancing. Rad shit I tell you!

Note: I know it’s a little blurry, but them dudes were rockin’ the f-o!
